OUR STORY

Contributing to a More Safe and Peaceful Society...One Student at a Time!

Academy of Life and Leadership Taekwondo was founded over 20 years ago by Grandmaster Barb Kunkel, a member of the 2000 U.S. Taekwondo Olympic Team.  You can learn more about her incredible journey here.  A.L.L. TKD SW's founder, Instructor Frank, started this school five years ago.  It was originally located at the Citadel Mall but then moved to its new home here in Security-Widefield.

Instructor Frank's passion for martial arts started at a young age, influenced by various Hollywood offerings from superstars like Bruce Lee and David Carradine.  He didn't actually put on his dobok (marital arts uniform) until he was an adult, though.  Studying under Grandmaster Kunkel, Frank enjoyed the movement and exercise taekwondo provided, and developed a passion for competitions and sparring where he eventually became a state champion, followed by taking third at nationals.

Frank realized his passion for taekwondo exceeded the passion he had for his teaching job at the time, so he partnered with Grandmaster Kunkel to open his own school under the Academy of Life and Leadership banner.

It's Instructor Frank's desire that each of his students walk away from class knowing they've accomplished something new—overcome a challenge—and become a better version of themselves.
